Oh jeez, the things you see on deviantART. I've found today photos of clitoris', hard-ons and stimulated penis' on deviantART that have been viewed THOUSANDS of times and yet they are still on here.

I am horrified and disgusted.

I am not a prude, but hell. I don't want to see a grainy macro of your clitoris. That's not art. If I wanted a biology lesson f*ck me, I'd get a mirror and check myself out. Better yet, I'd go to a medical site to see anatomy.

What is worst is that when I tried to report these things as policy violations I couldn't. Good one DA. Have a policy violation report button and you can't even bloody use it because it always comes up with an error.

Nah, serious guys. This is getting beyond the joke. There is no such thing as "Art Porn". Porn is porn, art is art. A woman naked is not porn, a woman spreading her vagina or fingering herself or playing with a penis is not art. The definition of pornographic is something viewed as grossly obsene literacy or art or imagery of sexual gratification, especially that produced for money. Look it up in the dictionary. *throws one at your head*

I've seen a lot of penis' and vaginas' on this place. They all look the same. Really, they do. Different shapes and sizes yes, but basically the same. I have never found a vagina photo or a penis in a shot that has had me hot and flustered. Sorry, it just hasn't happened. So why the hell is there so many comments on these things like "Oh, I have a hard on right now". "I'd like to meet that pussy in person" "SLUUUUURRRP!" etc etc allowed.

Nah. :shakeshead:

Just..don't get me started.

I'd be bloody worried if a gynachologist behaved in such matter, or worst still a photographer of a ARTISTIC NUDE (yes, there is such a thing) model got aroused during the photoshoot.

Look, there is this thing called Artistic Nude. There is also things called Fetish Art and Eroticism. Look them up and check them out. You can do them tastefully and well. A good example is Helmut Newton, Dita Von Teese, David Lynch & Christian Louboutin (anyone with a shoe fetish will know about that exhibition and series of photos) . These were just names off the top of my head.

Don't get me started on the Hentai and tenticle porn on here. Hmm, slash literature anyone?

Edit:

~allbecauseiloveyou

This is what I am against, so the notes that I have received in relations to the fact that I should get off my soapbox and let them take nudie photos for the sake of nudie photos because it is the common theme and "cool" and grainy macros of pubes, penis and vagina is where they have to start is rubbish. No, I am not going to sit back and say nothing about it because who are we to judge what is art and what is not. No, I am not a prude and all the other names I have been called. No, I don't think we should change the point of view of the terminology of pornography because it is just a natural act. :shame:

Thanks to all that have taken the time to comment even if you agree and disagree. Thanks also to the few people that I have commented on their work and why they have chosen to show their work as such, and have indeed thanked me for my point of view and given me a rather good response to my questions. I don't agree with it, but I respect you for giving me your point of view. I've enjoyed reading everyone's responses and all that have posted on this journal and not flamed me in notes have done so with eloquence and good points.

I agree with your concern for the extreme images that some see as 'art' miss poison.

:shakefist: What concerns me more is that these 'artists' contribute to an already held public misconception that anyone with a camera has perverted reasons and is not to be trusted until proven otherwise.
Is DA not designed for people to display their artistic works and expression that is accepted as a community of art minded people of different genre's ? :shakefist:
I am sure that there are a multitude of of internet sites that would gladly accept these more pornographic depthless imagery thath is more suited to their taget market/viewer.
That being said there will always be those who stroll through this art environment seaching for such imagery and that may well 'float their boat' but does this mean DA should allow those doing so continue to encourage and display such imagery?

Hey DA :pissedoff:
... Give genuine Artists and Models back a 'good name' .. it should be a management policy to immediately deal with the violations of unacceptible imagery :police: as it arises that is defetive of the purpose of this community....

"SLUUUUURRRP!"
I am not currently sexually stimulated.
LOL
DA is a flawed system, as are we.
Thanks to all who try and bring it up a level and who rant freely when it does not work well.

I keep getting told off for the severity of my rants (they're just debatable discussions really) but I really did feel strongly opposed to this. It was disgusting.

Like anything in life if you do not speak up about it then nothing will be done. It is the "flawed system" that has created so much havoc around us because so many know that was is going on around them is wrong but they do not wish to speak about it because it will draw attention to the fact that they are opposed to it.

General rule of thumb with quite a few issues. Violence, greed, hatred, any sorts of vice really. We'd savour oppression than to stand up for what we believe in and go against another.

A well written response that gives even more to think about and note. You are right though, it is getting harder and harder to justify your actions as a Photographer and Artist as through technology (webcams, cameras, phones, internet) it gives people with not so ideal views freeway to access this and exploit it. We've become voyeurs. Just think of people taking photos at the beach or a swimming centre. Hell, I used to be able to do Street photography and Photojournalism but these days I have to be careful because so many people are so fearful of terrorism or exploitation that they think that is the only reason that you would be taking a photograph. Then there is the "Myspace" generation that are very involved in Self Gratification. You've got 14 year old boys and girls sexing themselves up to make themselves appear older. No wonder there is issues with Predators. Air caution and common sense and there wouldn't be a problem. So many people put their whole lives online and are so open about themselves that they have not learnt the dangers involved with being that vulnerable. Just because it is behind a computer screen does not mean that you can't get hurt.

Just a bit of a tangent.

On subject though, yeah there ARE more suited sites but as with everything freedom of expression and speech has buggered it up because people don't know how to have a form of self respect. Their sexuality is noted and shown every day. Sex sells, we've known that for years. Marketting companies exploit that. It's in every teen magazine, video clip, newspaper and media coverage you can think of. No wonder people think of it as the norm. Good to have a general that is so 'open' but maybe just maybe we are too open and need to remember there are other things that are more important than sex. Respect, honesty, humility, compassion, a thirst for life and succeeding your goals...

I think that is a bit more important than "Pussy Watching".

Agree whole-heartedly on the management policy. However, realistically it's not going to happen.

I've fallen from soap boxes many a times. Learn to put down a pillow :p

I agree 100%. The porn on here is getting ridiculous. I mean, a vagina? on the front page? ABSURD!

Anyway..yeah I definitely agree..there is a tasteful way and an untasteful way to do things, and there is a serious difference between art and pornography

I totally agree with you. Sadly, so many people think that sort of imagery is art and they won't understand y our point.

Yeah, I don't like to see those things on here either.. just classy stuff please (like yours! :D)

To a certain extent I think dA has become an extension of flickr, MySpace, and the rest, except here they seem to be able to get away with those kind of images under the pretence of calling it art. The solution? Make it subscriber only, or ban non-subscribers from certain categories (viewing or submitting). It might not stop the problem completely, but it should clear out a lot of the MySpace "look at me!" gang.

There is a problem with a policy violation button - it's potentially open to abuse unless dA can spare people to check all the violation notices; it only takes one idiot to go through someone's gallery and report all of their submissions, which could potentially ruin someone's dA experience. You know what it's like to have a stalker...

It's not me btw, I haven't stalked in years ;)
