Hello All,

I would like to ask everyone's help. I have decided that I would put together a collage of deviantART's members chests (as well as other lovely chests) in a lovely piece of artwork to auction off on ebay in support for breast cancer research. All money will go towards The National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Facts:

:bulletblue: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Australian women after non-melanoma skin cancer, followed by bowel cancer, melanoma and lung cancer.

:bulletblue: One in 11 Australian women will be diagnosed with the disease before the age of 75.

:bulletblue: In 2000 (last available national figures), a total of 11,700 women and 86 men were diagnosed with breast cancer.

:bulletblue: As with most cancers, the risk of breast cancer increases with age. 25% of the new breast cancer cases diagnosed in 1999 were among women aged 20-49; 48% among women aged 50-69; and 27% among women aged 70+.

:bulletblue: A total of 2,511 women died from breast cancer in Australia in 2000. It is the most common cause of cancer-related death in women, followed by lung cancer and bowel cancer.

:bulletblue: From 1994 to 2003, the breast cancer death rates declined by an average of 2% per year.

:bulletblue: The five-year relative survival rate for Australian women with breast cancer during 1992-97 was 84%, compared with 72.3% in 1982-86. The five-year relative survival rate represents the proportion of people who would survive five years after diagnosis with cancer, if all other causes of death were excluded.

:bulletblue: Survival is improving due to better detection and improved treatment resulting from excellent research.

I have had many family members and friends diagnosed with cancer, and unfortunately quite a few have lost their battle. It is traumatic on the family and the person alike. With hope, more funding for research will help bring down these numbers and prolong the life expectancy of those diagnosed.

So now I am asking for YOUR help.

I am looking for 200 high resolution shots of people's chests, be in man or woman. However there will be a few rules.

1) You MUST be over 18.
2) If you wish to join then please submit a photo under the heading of "Breast Cancer Awareness" and send me over a note linking it along with a contact email address. I will send over a formal form for you to fill out giving me permission to use your photo in my artwork.
3) When you have filled out a form with conditions stated I will then ask you for a HIGH RESOLUTION copy of your photo.
4) Photo MUST be in the format of no smaller than 1600 wide by 1200 high.
5) You must NOT have your face in the shot. This is for BREAST cancer awareness, not for showing off how beautiful your face is.

I am hoping that I get enough support to get this off the ground. Please feel free to link to this journal and send it on to anyone that may be interested.

Any questions then don't hesitate to get in contact.

Questions and Answers:

1) Can we not submit the photo on deviantART?

If you wish to post to me directly you can do so through my email address: poisoned.pure@gmail.com

As I thought it would be easier to get people involved and promote through deviantART. I "would" still like to see links through submissions so that I can promote you in my journal, but I am more than happy to use discretion and receive them through email.

2) Can non-deviant members join this project? I have a friend who may be interested?

Non deviants are MORE than welcome. This is not a deviantART only project. I was thinking of making it an Artist Only project to show that artists support breast cancer but then it would be unfair to all those lovely people that have already sent me notes saying that they would love to participate. So I am making this is a community-wide project. So deviants that have friends that wish to join in feel free to get them in contact with me.

3) Do you want full frontal shots? Something naked or with a bra on? Nipples exposed?

Full frontal please. It will be easier for me to tie all the photos together. I am not too worried if you wish to post nude or with a bra, but I do want the focus to be on your breasts. I also do not care if you are male, female, pierced, tattooed, large, small or have an extra nipple. I want to show that all walks of life, and that we ALL support breast cancer awareness.

Thankyou everyone.
~Poison

Update 22/11/06

Thankyou very much to the people that have got involved with this project.

Also I would like to give notice to a fellow deviant who is also hoping to raise money for cancer by running a marathon in help for her father. Please go see her journal and help out if you can.

Update 26/11/06

I have a meeting with the Breast Cancer Foundation tomorrow in regards to registering this project and also making sure that the photos that I have got so far are respectable enough to be used in my artwork.

I have also had wonderful support from Breast Cancer Survivors that wish to jump on board this project and bare their chest for my artwork. I think that this is fabulous, and applaud them for their bravery.

I will also be talking to the Advertiser after I get registration from the Breast Cancer Foundation to hopefully gain more support in this endeavor.

Thankyou to each and every one of you for your support and kindness in helping me with this project.

Update 19/04/07:

Your poor little artist and photographer has had a very busy year. I have now worked very hard to get my own business up and running and promote this project. Work has been swarming my way due to some absolutely fantastic people seeing great things in me and giving me a go.

See my journal here for updates on my projects-> [link]

View Media Release on Breast Cancer Awareness Project in thumb below.

I would absolutely love to get this project up and done so that we can send off some much needed funds to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. Please remember if you have decided to be a part of this project to send me over your email address and send me back the signed Breast Cancer Awareness Form. I do need to get the legalities in order before I embark on the final stages of the artwork. I will be going through my email and notes archive over the weekend to see who has sent me links, email addresses and signed forms.

:star:Submission Deadline: as soon as possible! Time is running out!

I give permission for the work of my choice to be shown in the communities that I am a part of. No other deviant member or person outside of deviantART has permission to use or showcase my work.

I think your idea is wonderful, you have my support in this and I will be linking your journal so that I can get as many people to help as I possibly can! Aswell as donating my own picture if I can get a hold of a good enough camera :)

hmm, this is a very good idea, I was wondering if nationality had anything to do with it. I'm guessing you will accept images from people from any country(as long as there are no crazy laws in there country making somehow illegal?) I am also glad to hear you are accepting images from men as well, because I know many women who until I informed them, had no idea that men could get that kind of cancer.

I am not really one to show off my body, but I am thinking this is a good cause, and therefore I am considering participating. It might take me some time to get a good image posted though as my free time is extremely limited for the next 2 weeks.

this is wonderful!!!! i recently hosted a Girls Night In and with friends raised $164 for brest cancer... i will very happily submit a pic to you, but i might chose to email it rather than post in my own page, but will happily let you mention that i did it!!! haha!!! i will mention this wonderful idea to many people, deviants and non deviants alike.
my nanna has fought, and won against breast cancer (mum's mum) and so i am nervous. also, my grandma had cervical cancer (dad's mum)... im not sure what sort of risk i am in for either, but im slightly worried, and think that any way to gain research, awareness, or funds are wonderful!!!
also, just last year, a wonderful family friend died of breast cancer, leaving behind a husband, and three children aged between 15 and 10... she was not expected to live as long as she did once it was discovered, but was a real fighter. she discovered the lump in her breast while breast-feeding her youngest.... it was sooo sad...

anyway, enough rambling. wonderful idea and i will be getting back to you shortly. :)
